KANIPCHEN-FIT at the OCCII SATURDAY, June 11th, 2016 | |||||||
UNFIT FOR THESE TIMES FOREVER
Gloria has a background in the legendary all-female group of performance-based poets called the Pussy Poets; Empee went from noisy punk-wave with Lul, through wavy post-postrock with Solbakken, to his current bluesy rock-grooves; Frank is probably best-known for his fancy surf-riddims in the Treble Spankers, and punk-tight straight-forwardness in Big Paulus. Musically, Kanipchen-Fit embarks on all kinds of styles, but stays in the neighbourhood of what has been labeled soul-rock, noise-blues, among many other things. Some even went as far as to call it funky protest music for the twenty-first century. Inevitably, inadvertently, Kanipchen-Fit generates energy, because the beat takes over and the adrenalin kicks in, or maybe because they mix the groovy drums with some bassy rock-guitar and two powerful vocals; it is an energy they themselves find difficult to control. |
